While I had one baby with me, and other babies with me in the cradle was working 12 hour shifts sanding flooring and tearing off wallpaper. Ha! The house was starting to look nice, but there were still many things that needed to be left. In order to furnish the house, it was going to take a lot of effort both in both time and funds. It was also going to be a challenge to go out and shop for my most-loved items. My three sons and I looked for treasures hidden going to estate sales in order to help ensure that my spending was under control. Every week, we spent between Thursday and Saturday in garage sales and estate sales purchasing old and brand new furniture. After that, I stenciled and polished the driveway in the week. My passion for restoration of furniture began with a look that was similar to this. Even after our house was finished, I didn't want to quit! At the local market I was able to rent a tiny space and sold some items. In the end, I accumulated more items that I could decide about and outgrew the area. My home became a place where I would host open houses. Up to 1,000 people could view the items on my first floor before purchasing them. Growing Days was created in this home. The business I was running was growing, but my family was also growing. It was like I had found the perfect equilibrium between motherhood and launching my venture. Growing Days just seemed to work. My precious Nora arrived in the year 2013, our fourth baby. Though I was content with the direction my business went, I was feeling like I needed to take an occasional break. I decided to take some break from my antique furniture and remain at home with the children. That was exactly what I needed at that time. It rang once more after a while. A lot of people contacted me seeking advice on home improvement and decorating. The majority of them were people who visited my home during my furniture open houses. I started taking on some clients one at a time going at my own pace however it wasn't for long to have multiple accounts and was running the complete business of home remodeling. Had you told me my venture would end up being the basis for a DIY Network show, I likely would have been astonished. It's hilarious to look back about it.
